His name is Anthony Onyemaechi Elumelu, but every knows him as Tony Elumelu, a multimillionaire with a vision. “Artificial Intelligence is the way to go, but Africa must not be left behind!”, warns the founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation. He works for an “Africa connected to the world”. He is the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Transcorp, United Bank for Africa (UBA). More than that, Tony Elumelu is the apostle of what he calls "Africapitalism": he believes that Africa’s private sector will play a leading role in the continent’s development through long-term investments. Tony doesn't just do business: he prefers activities where we can create a dynamic: “We are not motivated by profit alone.” His Foundation aims to empower a new generation of African entrepreneurs to contribute to economic growth, eradicate poverty and create jobs. The goal is to provide business training, mentorship, access to networks, and non-refundable US$5,000 seed capital, to 1,000 young African entrepreneurs.
